Chasing the Light Collection

Chasing the Light
$3,000.00

This work is inspired by the artist’s daily drive through the Illinois landscape—a quiet, recurring study of sky, light, and atmosphere. The ever-changing nature of the horizon offers a continual invitation to observe how light emerges, shifts, and reveals itself in new ways.

The composition seeks to capture the vastness of the Midwestern sky in which cloud and light converge. Three distinct beams break through dense clouds suggesting movement, direction, and the possibility of a path forward.

The piece invites reflection: What light are we following?

“If you want the secret of freedom
And feeling alive
You've gotta follow the light”

Even in the presence of gathering darkness, light persists—guiding, steady, and enduring.

Sacred Light
$2,600.00

This work reflects the light we encounter through one another—the quiet, often unexpected ways we are guided out of darkness. It speaks to the moments when help arrives through a voice, a presence, or a hand extended at just the right time.

The composition centers on a radiant burst of light breaking through layered clouds, rendered in luminous golds, soft whites, and vibrant blues. The light expands outward with energy and movement, cascading down toward the grounded green landscape below. The surrounding clouds, though still present, are softened by the intensity of the illumination—suggesting not the absence of darkness, but its retreat in the presence of light.

This piece points to the role we play in one another’s journeys. In seasons where chaos and grief threaten to overwhelm, it is often through others that light first becomes visible again.

Who has been that light for you?

“And the servants of the secret fire
Were gathered there…
Shine your light on me
Be a light unto my path
And a lamp unto my feet”

Sundowning
$500.00

The sun lowers behind the trees, its final rays glimmering through branches and trunks. Greens and browns soften as golden light settles across the landscape, marking the quiet close of day. There is beauty here—but also a subtle heaviness, a shift that is felt more than seen.

“Sundowning” is often associated with the emotional and cognitive decline experienced by those living with Alzheimer’s as evening approaches. It is also a lesser-known experience in postpartum recovery—one the artist encountered after giving birth. As the light faded each day, so did a sense of steadiness. What followed was a weight that felt confusing, isolating, and frightening. It was not until a physician gently reframed the experience as part of the body’s healing that a new understanding emerged: it was okay to not be okay. The darkness was not permanent. The light would return.

“It’s OK,” written by Nightbirde during her battle with cancer, echoes this truth. Her life became a testimony of faith, resilience, and hope in the face of suffering.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay
If you’re lost
We’re all a little lost and it’s alright”

Even here, at the edge of fading light, grace remains.

Longing - part of the Light Triptych
$250.00

This triptych traces a spiritual journey of the soul—marked by hope, shaped by longing, and fulfilled in presence. Each panel is distinct, yet they are bound together by a single, continuous beam of light that moves seamlessly from one painting to the next.

“Longing” (the centerpiece of this triptych) deepens the journey. As the light intensifies, it reveals the ache within us—a God-given desire for restoration, for wholeness, for reunion.

Together, these works reflect a sacred progression: we hope in what is promised, we long for what is not yet seen, and we are led toward eternal presence. The light that begins the journey is the same light that completes it.

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12

Breakthrough
$800.00

This work reflects the tension between waiting and revelation—the space between what is and what is yet to come. It speaks to those moments of sudden clarity when light pierces through uncertainty and everything begins to shift.

Layered clouds in cool blues and grays create a sense of weight and stillness, while radiant beams of gold break through with warmth and intensity. The light descends into the darkened landscape below, suggesting movement, direction, and transformation.

This piece invites a reframing of the waiting season—not as empty, but purposeful.

What if the light is already on its way?

“So lift your eyes above the hills
Higher up and higher still
If you could see from heaven’s view
All the plans drawn out for you
Every string is used in His design”

Even in stillness, there is design. And in time, the light breaks through.

Music: “Tapestry,” from the David soundtrack

This work reflects the moments when darkness feels overwhelming—when the clouds in our lives grow so heavy that clarity fades and the path forward disappears. It speaks to the tension between fear and faith, when uncertainty presses in and stability feels fragile.

The composition is defined by a dramatic sky, where dense, layered clouds in cool whites and soft grays stretch across a field of deep blue. From within this heaviness, a radiant burst of golden light breaks through, expanding outward with energy and movement.

This piece represents the act of holding steady in the midst of chaos—of anchoring ourselves to what is true even when we cannot yet see clearly..

Light Remains
$1,300.00

Storms in life can obscure the light—shaking our faith, raising questions without answers, and surrounding us with uncertainty.

This work captures that tension. Dark, swirling forms press in from every direction, layered in deep blacks, grays, and soft whites, creating a sense of movement and unrest. At the center, a radiant stream of gold breaks through—descending with quiet strength, illuminating the darkness without erasing it. The light does not overpower the storm; it endures within it. There is both chaos and steadiness here.

This piece reflects the search for light in seasons of depression, disease, and loss. It speaks to the quiet truth that even when the storm rages, the light has not left. It remains—steady, present, and anchoring.

Not always loud. Not always easy to see.

But always there.

“And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am”

Presence - part of the Light Triptych
$250.00

This triptych traces a spiritual journey of the soul—marked by hope, shaped by longing, and fulfilled in presence. Each panel is distinct, yet they are bound together by a single, continuous beam of light that moves seamlessly from one painting to the next.

“Presence”, the pinnacle of this triptych, brings a sense of nearness. The light settles, no longer distant or searching, but abiding. It points to the promise that what we long for will one day be fulfilled—that we will be brought fully into the presence of God, and reunited with those we love.

Together, these works reflect a sacred progression: we hope in what is promised, we long for what is not yet seen, and we are led toward eternal presence. The light that begins the journey is the same light that completes it.

Edge of Dawn
$800.00

This work captures the tension of standing on the threshold between darkness and light. It reflects the moments when chaos feels close and yet something within us continues to reach toward hope.

The composition is defined by layered, shifting clouds in soft whites, blues, and muted grays, stretching across an expansive sky. Beneath them, a grounded horizon of deep greens and earth tones anchors the scene. Golden light begins to break through, spilling downward and gently illuminating the landscape below.

In seasons where chaos presses in, this piece speaks to the quiet work of remaining steady—of choosing where to fix our thoughts. Holding onto what is true when everything else feels uncertain. It asks not only where we look, but what we allow to anchor us.

What holds us steady when we stand on the edge—just before the dawn?

“I’ve been waiting for the sun
To come blazing up out of the night.
Oh, I believe that the light is gonna come.
This is the dark before the dawn.”
