THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

Isaiah 61 tells a story of restoration—beauty rising from ashes, comfort coming to those who mourn, and broken places being made new. Within the chapter is the image of God's people becoming “oaks of righteousness,” deeply planted and displaying His splendor.

Flourishing grew from that image.

To flourish does not mean we have never known difficult soil. It is the possibility of becoming deeply rooted within it—of discovering that hardship and beauty can exist within the same story, and that what once looked barren can still become a place of growth.

Created as a commissioned work for Lifesong for Orphans, an organization serving vulnerable children around the world, Flourishing reflects the hope of restoration: that lives can take root, grow strong, and become something beautiful.
