THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

Willow trees are often found growing near water, their roots drawing deeply from the ground beneath them while their long, supple branches bend and move with the wind. They are strong not because they remain rigid, but because they are created to adapt—to bend and shift when the storms come.

Resilience was inspired by that image and by the biblical picture of being planted beside living water: deeply rooted, continually nourished, and able to bear fruit even through difficult seasons.

These are the qualities I long for my children to carry with them—that they would be rooted in the Living Water from whom they draw their daily sustenance, yet flexible enough to weather the inevitable storms of life.

Deeply rooted. Able to bend. Still growing.
